"Robin in the Hood" - screening and talk with director and main actors + 1 potential solo concert with The Musical Slave:

A few years ago I was on a road trip when I accidentally crashed my van into a wall somewhere in the middle of Dublin. Out of the wall came a horse and a few boys, and one of them asked me if I wanted to come for a spin. Soon we were flying round the block on a horse and two-wheeler, and from that moment on I was hooked. I ended up staying in Dublin, buying my own horse and writing about 10 songs about this urban horse community, based around the Guinness factory in The Liberties. This resulted in my first short musical documentary, "No Plan", back in 2016 (https://youtu.be/19A53SyAUak?si=bsrN6ee5bT4Z3Ob2). The film was screened in numerous festivals, including the Galway Film Festival and Irish Screen America in New York, and won the Audience Award for Best Short Documentary at the Irish Film Institute's Documentary Festival in 2017.

I moved back to Norway, but kept in touch with the horse lads. And a few years ago I came back to Dublin to adapt another one of my songs, "Robin in the Hood" into a film. This time the song turned into a fiction piece, a 30 minute musical. But still, apart from 2 actors, everyone who features in the film are real members of this modern horse tribe. "Robin in the Hood" goes deeper into the challenges this community faces, and puts them in the context of a many centuries old class war. Here is a short synopsis:

""Robin in the Hood" uniquely fuses documentary, fiction and musical to create a modern version of the old ballad. This time Robin is an urban horse owner from Dublin and Marian is a travelling busker. Both feel trapped by an unfair and oppressive economic system, but with the help of Dublin´s inner city horse tribe they try to break free..."

The film won the Jury award for Best Norwegian Short Film at its national premiere at the Bergen International Film Festival, in October 2025. And it recently had its Irish premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival on March 1st. The film has also been screened at Cinemateket and Vega Scene in Oslo, and at Tønsberg Film Festival in Norway, where it won the Jury award for Best Film. And last weekend it was screened at Irish Film Berlin, where it won the Audience Award for Best Short Film. Many people have commented that they have never seen anything like it, and that we may have invented a new genre.
