«Robin in the Hood» er filmskaper og musiker Kristin Vollset sin andre prisvinnende film om det unike urbane hestemiljøet rundt Guinness fabrikken i Dublin, Irland. Vi har gleden av å vise filmen på Karlsøy festivalen, og vi har invitert inviterte henne og 4 av de medvirkende, Graeme Coughlan som spiller Robin, og Darren O´Reilly, Sean O´Connor og Gerard Howe i rollene som the Merry Men. Filmen vant Beste Kortfilm på Bergen Internasjonale Filmfestivalen i oktober 2025, og igjen på Tønsberg Filmfestival og Irish Film Berlin i mars 2026. Filmen ble også tatt ut til Dublin International Film Festival i mars, og i sommer er den tatt ut til Kortfilmfestivalen i Grimstad; Indy Shorts Film Festival i Indiana, USA; og Dokufest: International Documentary and Short Film Festival i Prizren, Kosovo.

Synopsis: I en del av Dublin kjent som «The Liberties», hvor også vikingene slo seg ned for ca 1100 år siden, finnes det en liten gjeng med urbane hesteeiere. En dag kræsjer en omreisende gatemusikant ved et uhell bilen sin inn i en av hestestallene deres – og ut kommer en hest og noen gutter i joggedress. En av guttene tar henne med rundt i nabolaget med hest og tohjuling, og fra den dagen er hun hektet…

«Robin in the Hood» kombinerer dokumentar, fiksjon og musikal for å skape en moderne versjon av den gamle myten. Denne gangen er Robin en urban hesteeier fra Dublin, og Marian er en omreisende gatemusikant. Begge føler seg fanget av et undertrykkende økonomisk system, men ved hjelp av Dublins urbane hestestamme tar de et uventet oppgjør med samfunnsstrukturen.

"Robin in the Hood" is filmmaker and composer Kristin Vollset´s second award-winning film about the unique urban horse community surrounding the Guinness factory in Dublin, Ireland. We are delighted to be screening the film at this year’s Karlsøy Festival, and we have invited Vollset along with four of the cast members: Graeme Coughlan who plays Robin, and Darren O’Reilly, Sean O’Connor, and Gerard Howe who feature as the Merry Men. The film won Best Short Film at Bergen International Film Festival in October 2025, and again at Tønsberg Film Festival and Irish Film Berlin in March 2026. It was also selected for the Dublin International Film Festival in March, and this summer it’s in competition at the Norwegian Short Film Festival in Grimstad; the Indy Shorts Film Festival in Indiana, USA; and Dokufest: International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Prizren, Kosovo.

Synopsis: In a part of Dublin known as the Liberties, which is also where the Vikings settled 1100 years ago, there is a small tribe of rebel horse owners. And one day a travelling street musician accidentally crashes her van into the wall of one of their urban horse yards - and out comes a horse and a few boys.
One of them brings her for a spin with a horse and two-wheeler, and from that day she’s hooked…

«Robin in the Hood» combines documentary, fiction and musical, to create a modern version of the old ballad of Robin Hood. This time Robin is an urban horse owner from Dublin, and Marian is a traveling busker. Both feel trapped by an unfair and oppressive economic system, but with the help of Dublin´s inner city horse tribe they try to break free.
